Ruth Lahoz

Biography
Ruth received his PhD in 2006 from the University of Zaragoza. She worked as post-doctoral researcher at ICMA (Zaragoza). In 2010 she was appointed Senior Technician at CSIC, providing services at the Laser Applications Laboratory related to the application of laser technologies in material science in both the academic and the industrial sector.

Along her career she has specialized in laser ablation and laser surface processing of materials. She focused in the fields of traditional ceramic materials and glass for the tile and masonry industry, in the surface functionalization of metals and polymers, and in the laser cleaning processes applied to the conservation of cultural heritage.
She has been supervisor of 2 PhD thesis and participates regularly in teaching and dissemination activities. Since 2001 she has coauthored 56 publications, 1 patent and has participated in 36 research projects funded by National or European Research programs. Dr. R. Lahoz has also participated in more than 13 projects of applied research in cooperation or financed by private companies.
Present research interests are the following. 1) Study and comprehension of laser-material interactions. 2) Laser synthesis of nanoparticles and nanostructures for the fabrication of multimodal contrast agents for early diagnosis of breast cancer. 3) Development of laser ablation cleaning procedures for the conservation of Cultural Heritage.
