Ongoing Projects

LASE/FASSION

Contact: Miguel A. Laguna-Bercero

Funds: MCIN/AEI (Spain)

FASSION is a joint project with INMA, IREC and CICe to develop advanced ultrafast sintering techniques to process ceramics for the realization of a new generation of high-performance solid state energy conversion devices including Solid Oxide Fuel and Electrolysis Cells (SOFCs and SOECs) and All Solid State Li metal Batteries (ASSB). The different subprojects are:

– Laser Assisted Sintering of Electrolysers (NAME): INMA

– Fast Sintering of ion-conducting 3D Printed energy devices (FASSION3D): IREC
– Oxide and Halides Solid State batteries (OASIS): CICe

TUPEL/SIMPEL

Contact: Alodia Orera

Funds: MCIN/AEI (Spain)

SIMPEL is a joint project with INMA, IREC and Barcelona Supercomputing Centre (BSC) addressing the design and development of a new generation of Solid Oxide Electrolyzers (SOELs) able to efficiently convert electricity into pressurized hydrogen for energy storage applications. The different subprojects are:

– HIgh Pressure 3D printed solid oxide Electrolysers (HIPE): IREC
– TUbular high Pressure solid oxide ELectrolysers (TUPEL): INMA
– Multiphysics modelling of Solid Oxide Electrolysis Cells (M2SOEC): BSC

SOFC4GreenGrID

Contact: Miguel A. Laguna-Bercero

Funds: Misiones program (Spain)

SOFC4GreenGrID is a joint project with Regenera, IDEA, VODIK, GreenGrouping for the development of a novel system for converting green hydrogen into electricity with powers of up to 50 kW, including the assembly of SOFC modules up to the desired power, plant balance and optimization of operating parameters in real environments.

MARBLE

Contact: Miguel A. Laguna-Bercero

Funds: EUROGIA (EU)

MARBLE is a joint project with GreenGrouping and LENTATEK (Turkey) to develop a portable energy system based on microtubular SOFCs with future decrease in energy cost by increasing conversion efficiency and low carbon emissions.

EUMEM

Contact: Rosa I. Merino

Funds: MINECO (Spain)

The EUMEM project seeks to develop selective CO2 transport membranes based on molten carbonates supported by oxides with special focus on the Mechanisms and advance the Fabrication Technology. These devices are efficient and very selective to separate CO2 from gas mixtures at temperatures in the range of 600 to 800 ºC, in pre- or postcombustion processes.

T02-23R

Contact: Rosa I. Merino

Funds: Regional Government (DGA)

LACOHE

Contact: Instituto de Química Física Blas Cabrera (CSIC)

Funds: MCIN/AEI (Spain)

PROCACEF member Ruth Lahoz, expert in laser cleaning processes, participates in the LACOHE Project (Laser for Conservation of Heritage), led by Mohamed Oujja  and Marta Castillejo from the Instituto de Química Física Blas Cabrera. The Project will contributue to a better understanding of heritage objects and their degradation processes using non-invasive, state-of-the-art, laser-based technologies and to provide innovative conservation approaches based in laser cleaning.

PROJECT SOEC-PPCC

Contact: Miguel A. Laguna

Funds: Planes Complementarios de la Comunidades Autónomas. Programa Energía e Hidrógeno Verde.

Spanish consortium built to develop science and technology of solid oxide electrolyzers up to a 2kW stack. Supported by the CSIC PTI + Transener (link)

In-operando Neutron Scattering Analysis of the Charge/Discharge Processes inside the Battery Electrodes

Contact: A. Larrea

Funds: International Lead Association and CSIC.

In collaboration with M4 – Multifunctional Molecular Magnetic Materials of the INMA (Javier Campo), this research on industrial batteries aims to increase the efficiency of the batteries.
